18 breathtaking day stages, 320 kilometres through one of the most d called ramatic landscapes in Europe and 32 different lakes - this is the "Salzkammergut S Trail" (Salzkammergut long distance hiking trail). The unforgettable tour, which lasts just over two weeks takes you past the Traunsee, Mondsee, Attersee, Lake Hallstatt, Lake Fuschl and the beautiful waters of the Ausseerland.

Everyone hikes their own way

Whether you sail over the water by ship, use cable cars to easily gain a few vertical meters - both options can be effortlessly incorporated into the tour of the Salzkammergut long distance hiking trail - but are not a must! Climb the Schafberg by train or by foot? From Gmunden to Traunkirchen by ship or Shanks’ pony? You decide!
The daily stages primarily end in places with varied infrastructure, sometimes in a hut. Whether you choose to take the complete tour or to discover individual sections - Walking the Salzkammergut long distance hiking trail is an unforgettable experience.

The Salzkammergut BergeSeenTrail has exactly the right challenges for every kind of hiker: whether on the popular "Classic Stages", which often run through romantic valleys and tranquil villages, or on the sporty "Alpine Stages" - here every long-distance hiker will find their own tailor-made offer. For those who would like to get a taste of something, we recommend an eventful hiking day on one of the numerous "Regional Stages" (still under construction). Whatever you decide to do, pack your backpack, put your hiking boots on and off you go - as it is well known that hiking starts with the first step.

Each map describes favourite routes for exploring Hallstatt, Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt, Gosau and Obertraun.
