If you're looking for a challenge, the best way is to take on the sports cross-country ski trail. The approximately 5-kilometre-long trail starts at Gasthof Gamsjäger in Gosau's Hintertal valley and initially leads through the forest on a slight incline. Then it goes steeply uphill to the Gosau reservoir. With the snow-covered tines of the majestic Gosaukamm in front of you, the trail continues along the main road and across meadows and fields to the "Gasthaus Echo" and "Gasthof Gosauschmied" refreshment stops. Every kilometre of the trail is signposted. There is also a detailed winter sports and cross-country trail map. Fancy nature, fancy fresh winter air? Whether squinting to enjoy the warmth of the winter sun or feeling the wind on the cross-country ski run: the sports cross-country ski run has a lot of variety to offer!
For all those who don't want to spend a long time looking for a parking space and want to enjoy the full cross-country skiing fun in the large valley: All people in the Gosau Valley are networked with each other. As an entry or exit to the Gosau cross-country ski trail network, we therefore recommend the centrally located "Sportplatz car park" (Parkplatz Sportplatz Gosau), which is located directly near the main road in Gosau's "Mittertal" district.
