Snow alternatives in the world heritage region
Try hiking, jogging, museum visits and spa days instead of cross-country skiing, ice climbing or sledding. At the moment, the valleys of the UNESCO World Heritage Region remain without snow. Only in the surrounding mountains such as the ski region Dachstein West in Gosau and the Freeride Arena on the Krippenstein has the time arrived for winter sports like skiing and snowshoeing.
On your feet and on the go
With not even a single snowflake in sight, winter holidaymakers have discovered the abundance of hiking trails in the world heritage region. From the east shore trail along Lake Hallstatt or the picturesque Echern Valley in Hallstatt to the Gosaubach Trail, the Traunreiter Trail in Bad Goisern or the Obertraun Höhenweg, there’s a lot to discover in the world heritage region.
For those who are searching for peace and relaxation, we recommend the many spas offered in the area around Lake Hallstatt and the Gosau Valley.
