Fishing in the UNESCO World Heritage Region
Enjoy the silence
With its 76 lakes and numerous rivers and streams, the Salzkammergut is an Eldorado for anglers. Whether you prefer classic or fly fishing, in the crystal clear waters this sport simply becomes double the fun.
The Hallstatt lake is 8, 6 square kilometres, and 126 meters deep. It is one of the most mysterious lakes in Austria. A bird?s eye view of the lake reminds one of a Norwegian Fjord. The water is also as cold, even in the height of summer the surface temperature of the water is rarely more than 21 degrees. Hallstatt lake was originally with only lake char; this has changed over the years and meanwhile a wider variety of fish such and is renowned as the best vendace lake in the whole of Austria.
"Tight lines“ on the Mühlbach
Do you know of a restaurant where you can sit cosily on the terrace, with a glass of wine and at the same time watch the fish in the stream? With us you will do just that, because the Goiserer Mühle is located directly on the Mühlbach (mill stream). Here, with the appropriate permission of course, you can fish at any time according to your mood. And if you put in a good word with the chef, then in no time you can have the self-caught fish on a plate.
